While the world waited with baited breath for Nigeria and Nigerians to make their choice, Oletu stayed beside his phone waiting for the prophecy to come to pass.
Because we are stateless is a chapbook of twenty poems running through the mind of a writer who holds wake for his country and maybe has lost any form of hope. Oletu has been Nigerian since he was born but can feel the meaning of the word “stateless”. Every poem here is a progression and moves into dangerous places from doubt, speculation to a point of despair and the ultimate unfeeling feeling where he lets go.
Part of the proceeds from the sale of this chapbook will go to The Yellow House Library, to support its building and help out of school children to with serene reading environment.
